After a twelve-year absence, a playwright returns to his hometown to announce to his family his impending death. As resentment rewrites the course of the afternoon, fits and feuds fueled by loneliness and doubt begin to unfold. Meanwhile, all attempts at empathy are sabotaged by the family’s incapacity to listen and love. The claustrophobia of family is well-wrought in this latest, highly stylized drama by Québécois director Xavier Dolan.
