Antoine graduates from police academy and moves to Paris with dreams of fighting crime. His wife Julie refuses to leave their Normandy home, so during the week, he stays in rented digs in the city. The division’s new chief inspector Captain Vaudieu, a recovering alcoholic who lost her own son years ago, takes him under her wing. Antoine fits easily into her team of work-hard, playhard detectives. She involves him in the investigation of the murder of a homeless Pole. Then tragedy strikes and Vaudieu has to fight the old demons that she used to drown in drink.
